Keen Industrial Batch Oven Descriptions

Keen Batch Oven Keen Natural Convection Batch Ovens Industrial Batch Oven Keen KTL-16C Batch Oven Keen K-VF4-6 Industrial Batch Oven

At Keen, we offer a wide variety of industrial batch oven styles and equipment options to help our customers find an efficient solution to their heat processing applications.  Our range covers simple natural convection bench-top batch ovens with flat shelving, to sophisticated floor level forced-air convection cabinet batch ovens with Keen custom-manufactured plug fan systems, custom shelving configurations and digital temperature controls.

Keen industrial batch ovens are used in many different industries for a wide variety of heat processing applications. Each Keen customer has a unique heating application, part size and temperature requirement, and a custom batch oven is often the most effective choice for their specific heat processing needs.  If your parts require pre-heating or post-heating before installation, welding or assembly, Keen can custom design an industrial batch oven tailored to your specific process.

Please see list below of industrial batch ovens we offer and brief descriptions of each:

Keen Natural Convection Batch Ovens

Keen natural convection batch ovens do not have forced-air circulation inside the cabinet, and instead rely on natural principles of heat displacement and circulation inside the cabinet for thermal processing.  Keen ovens utilize incoloy sheathed tubular heating elements to produce the required amount of heat for the application, and as the contained heat circulates inside the cabinet, the parts are heated to the target temperature.  Depending upon the application as described by the customer, we are able to determine the amount of heat required for the application and design our ovens accordingly.

Bench Level Industrial Batch Ovens with Natural Convection

Keen bench level natural convection batch ovens are a popular choice for light-duty heat processing applications. A wide variety of oven sizes, temperature ranges and shelving configurations are available to accommodate different parts.  Typically, these batch ovens have interior sizes under 10 cubic feet, and do not have maximum temperatures above 650°F.  For example, our K-4RS 550 batch oven was designed with a cradled shelf to accommodate round journal bearings that needed to be preheated before installation onto army tank tracks.  Another example of a Keen bench top batch oven is the K-PHB which was designed for use in a navy ship engine room and had to fit through ship hatches.

Floor Level Industrial Batch Ovens with Natural Convection

Keen floor level natural convection industrial batch ovens are the choice for large applications in which higher wattage, heat and larger capacity are needed to fulfill heat processing requirements for a given application.  Floor level batch ovens are robust ovens that can accommodate higher, volume, higher weight parts and can feature a reinforced structure if required for very heavy parts.  An array of oven shelving options are available suited to customer’s parts to enhance thermal processing efficiency, or we can produce an oven with no shelving.  The K-FSU is an example of a natural convection oven with no shelving per customer’s instructions, and heating elements installed on the sides for drying large rolls of a specialized cotton filter material.   The Keen KPH-324 batch oven is a popular general purpose model that can be used for a wide variety of parts.

Forced-Air Convection Batch Ovens

Keen forced-air convection batch ovens feature a custom-designed plug fan system that is manufactured in-house and specifically designed for the industrial oven and heat process requirements.  We offer both vertical and horizontal air flow industrial ovens to optimize parts processing.  Once we receive information about the application we can determine jointly with the customer the best type of forced-air batch oven for the application.

Keen’s proprietary plug fan blower systems offer great advantages over competing industrial batch ovens .  Aside from the motor itself, the systems are completely custom manufactured in-house and specifically designed for use on Keen industrial batch ovens.  The system is comprised of a motor, housing, shafts, plenum, fan and when in operation, the system is responsible for producing forced convection air flow on Keen industrial ovens.  Depending upon the customer’s application and the type of Keen industrial oven selected, we offer horizontal or vertical forced convection systems to enhance process efficiency and thorough heating of parts.  Please click here to read more about Keen blower systems.

Horizontal Air Flow Forced-Convection Ovens

Horizontal forced-convection batch ovens draw heat around the parts horizontally, and the plug fan system is typically installed on the back of the oven.  Depending upon the application, we can determine the horsepower required for the motor to achieve the customer’s desired results, and then design the rest of the system accordingly.  The KHF-27 custom batch oven with horizontal forced-convection has a custom-manufactured ball transfer plate in the base so the end user – who was preheating large tank transmission transfer cases – could slide the part in and out of the oven directly from a conveyor belt.  The K-HF8 is a good all-purpose horizontal convection batch oven that can be used for a wide variety of applications.

Vertical Air Flow Forced-Convection Ovens

Vertical forced-convection batch ovens draw heat around the parts vertically, and the plug fan system is typically installed on the top of bottom side of the oven. Depending upon the application, we can determine the horsepower required for the motor to achieve the customer’s desired results, and then design the rest of the system accordingly.  The K-TR vertical convection batch oven was designed for preheating large bottles of plasma powders at a low temperature, and the forced-air capability prevented hotspots and thorough, even heating.

Note: These ovens has numerous customized applications, including an industrial bearing oven.
